“These people are crazy! Instead of setting up scaffolding, they hook themselves to ropes and start working.” Every night of my first week working for EdiliziAcrobatica, I went home and said this to my wife, who would immediately reply with, “Enzo, this is the opportunity of a lifetime.”
Eleven years later and I’m still here, proving her right. When I joined EdiliziAcrobatica, I was 29 and I was a great builder. I knew how to do my job well, I could mix the lime and build a wall, but I couldn’t do anything else. If I had to talk to an engineer or a customer, I’d look down and feel ashamed, because after all, I was “only” a builder. Then I came to this company where I was taken by the hand and trained, not just in the techniques that I had to learn to become a rope-access construction worker, but they also helped me to understand my value, they encouraged me to grow and to believe in my potential, which wasn’t just being there to do my job well. Today, I’m one of the managers of rope-access operators in Italy. I help them, train them and support them so they can grow and improve every day. This is how it happened for me, I’m not a “special case”. I’m proof that there are no impossible goals if you have someone next to you showing how to achieve them.
